Richard Durgan, Durgan Travel Service

When most college students were concerned with when the next party was, Richard Durgan was already figuring out how to successfully sell travel as a campus rep, selling Spring Break tours. Richard hasn’t stopped since. First creating The Durgan Affiliated Group at Crimson Travel, then later Thomas Cook, Richard seized the opportunity to sell affordable, inclusive group travel in New England. In the mid-1990’s, after spinning off into his own Durgan Travel Service entity in Stoneham, Massachusetts, Richard took a chance on promoting an obscure Sicily trip, and that exploded into a whole new European market for Durgan Travel. Now, Durgan Travel is an award-winning tour operator to Italy, and one of the biggest customers out of the Boston gateway for several European airlines. Richard will celebrate 40 years in the travel industry in 2009.

Richard lives in Beverly Farms, Massachusetts, with his wife Cheryl and son Jared. He can be reached at (781) 438-2224, extension 101, or rdurgan@durgantravel.com
